Subscription billing on Whop
Whop handles subscription billing natively — monthly, yearly, trials, payment plans, multiple tiers — as part of the 2.7% + $0.30 rate, with an optional billing-automation service at 0.5% for retries and dunning. Stripe charges 0.7% of Billing volume for the equivalent. Paddle and Lemon Squeezy include subscriptions inside 5% + 50¢. Whop also does what processors do not: it revokes access (a Discord role, a course, a licence) when a subscription lapses.

What the 0.5% billing service adds
Smart retries and dunning for failed renewals, plan-change handling and recovery flows. Enable it when involuntary churn (card failures) is a measurable line; for a small base it may not pay for itself.

What Whop does not do
- Metered or usage-based billing.
- Invoicing with net terms as a first-class flow for subscriptions (Whop has an invoices product for one-off invoices).
- Complex proration schedules across plan changes.
